Conveyor guides and rollers machined from nylon sheet show up constantly in food processing, packaging, and general material handling lines, mostly because they run quieter than steel and don’t need constant lubrication. The friction starts when a maintenance team tries to compare wear life across suppliers, since "wear resistance" on a spec sheet rarely points to a shared test method or load condition.

Part of the confusion comes from nylon itself. PA6 (cast or extruded) and MC nylon are often grouped under the same general product name, but they differ in crystallinity, moisture uptake, and dimensional stability once under sustained load. A roller that performs fine in a dry environment can swell slightly in a humid plant, which changes running clearances and can accelerate edge wear on guide rails over time. None of that nuance shows up in a single abrasion number on a datasheet.

There’s also the question of what the wear figure is actually measured against. Some sheets are rated against steel-on-steel baselines, others against untreated plastics, and the test loads, speeds, and cycle counts aren’t always disclosed. Two materials with near-identical friction coefficients on paper can behave very differently once they’re cut into a specific roller diameter and run continuously at production speed.

Given that, ranking "top" nylon brands without knowing the test conditions, moisture exposure, and actual load/speed profile of the line in question seems like comparing numbers that aren’t really comparable in the first place. What wear data or real field observations have people found genuinely useful when evaluating nylon sheet for conveyor guides and rollers, beyond whatever number sits on the supplier’s own spec sheet?
